Our vision is to be the ‘Centre for Microbial Knowledge and Skills,’ where students and researchers can understand, discover, and apply beneficial microorganisms, their consortia and communities, and synthetic microbiomes in agriculture. 

The mission of the Division of Microbiology is to understand the diversity, function, communication, and interaction of beneficial and commensal microorganisms with crop plants at all stages, from seed to seed and beyond, in their agricultural environments. The Division provides a holistic approach to microbiology education and research opportunities on how these simplest life forms, from the level of individual strains to microbiomes, can be used to solve agricultural problems.
