Objectives:

1.     Employing microbial strategies/mechanisms for improved stress tolerance and nutrient management under changing climate conditions

Flagship Programme (2021-26):

Functional importance and translational applications of microbiomes for crop productivity (CRSCIARISIL20210054339)

Objectives:

1.     Perform high-resolution metagenomic- and metatranscriptomic analyses of rhizosphere/ phyllosphere microbiome including endophytes and pathobiome of major crops, and gut microbiome of insects

2.     Understand the assembly rules for microbiome establishment including competition and cooperation among the microbes in a microbiome at different components of plants and insects

3.     Identify the microbial hubs and develop synthetic microbial communities (‘synthetic microbials’) for efficient nutrient cycling efficiencies and biocontrol for increased crop productivity
